AI platform for real-time analysis of spatio-temporal data

The SMARTY project develops an innovative platform based on artificial intelligence, cloud and edge computing for the real-time analysis of spatio-temporal data. The goal is to enhance the ability of digital systems to understand and interpret the physical environment in a fast and efficient way.

The proposed technology is designed for Mixed Reality applications, where it is essential to detect and track objects in dynamic environments. To ensure high performance, the system distributes computational tasks between local devices and the cloud: computationally intensive operations are executed in the cloud, while time-critical tasks are handled on the user’s device.

This architecture also supports multi-user scenarios, enabling a shared and synchronized understanding of the environment across different users.

Initial experimental results show good performance even under varying network conditions, demonstrating the robustness of the proposed approach.

In the future, the platform will be extended with more advanced semantic understanding capabilities and may also be applied to Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
