Quantum-Proof Your AI: SMARTY’s Next-Gen IPsec Tunnels!
The future of computing is rapidly approaching, and with it, the challenge of quantum computers potentially breaking our current public key cryptography methods. At SMARTY, we’re not waiting; we’re actively developing solutions to withstand this “quantum threat” today, especially for confidential AI training!
We’re pioneering a Post-Quantum Secure Optical IPsec Tunnel for Confidential AI Training. This isn’t just theory; it’s a vital step towards securing the massive data flows inherent in modern AI. Imagine millions of IPsec connections established per second during a confidential AI training job – and keeping them secure from future quantum attacks!

Here’s how we’re making it happen:
- We initiate an OpenSSL session to create an authenticated connection.
- Digital signatures are exchanged using robust Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) algorithms like Falcon and Dilithium.
- An encryption key is exchanged via Kyber, one of the NIST-standardized PQC algorithms.
- These PQC-generated keys are then mixed with the OpenSSL key using an XOR operation, ensuring security even if one key is compromised.
- The resulting shared key establishes an IPsec tunnel using 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption in Galois/Counter mode (GCM), which is recognized as quantum-resistant.
Our experiments demonstrate promising results, showcasing encrypted wireless throughput for mobile clients connecting to the cloud (north-south traffic) and impressive throughput for inter-data center communication (east-west traffic). We’re even offloading cryptography functions to DPUs to enhance performance.
We are committed to securing your data, both in transit and at rest, in the age of quantum computing. Follow SMARTY as we continue to push the boundaries of secure AI!
